Break the Habit Press

Books that challenge the accepted

BTH will publish books with a social slant, covering topics that we feel need to be challenged. We want to give a voice to the unheard and the under-represented; our first series will be published throughout 2018.

Book Launch

The Art of Consent

15th March, Rich Mix, 6pm – 11pm

For the launch of our first book, we've joined up with Ash Magazine and 100 Women I Know, to put together an event exploring how the arts can contribute to our understanding of sexual violence, via award-winning documentary, powerful spoken word performances and an inspirational panel discussion, raising money for UN Women as part of #HeforShe Arts Week 2018.

You can buy tickets from Rich Mix or Eventbrite

100 Women I Know

Our first title is published in collaboration with 100 Women I Know, a short documentary created by award-winning filmmaker Phoebe Montague. The documentary is a raw and unforgiving portrayal of the effects that rape and sexual assault have on young women, and has recently being screened at the Barbican as part of Underwire Festival, the UK's largest film festival celebrating female talent across the crafts.

The book is a work of non-fiction. The words in this book are true accounts of women's experiences of rape and sexual assault from data collected by Phoebe as background research for the documentary. It highlights the shared experiences of young women, with the intention of showing them that they are not alone. We hope that this book will contribute towards the wider conversation of rape and sexual assault and empower young women to speak up.

The book will be published on March 8th 2018, International Women's Day.

In collaboration with Ash Magazine and UN Women's #HeForShe Arts Week, the book launch will be taking place at Rich Mix on 15th March. More details on the launch below.
